China News & Prayer (2026.04.17-23)

Light of Life

“I am a nurse. In seasons when I felt lost in my work, I often wept in prayer. Later, I encountered a young woman suffering from severe depression. She resisted every form of treatment and even wanted to end her life. I knelt down beside her and simply kept her company. Gradually, she became willing to cooperate. On the day she was discharged, she held my hand and said: ‘With you by my side, I didn’t feel alone anymore.’ It was like a beam of light shining into my heart. I suddenly understood — I am a vessel of the Heavenly Father, sent to care for the weak. Since then, I see my work with completely different eyes.”

(Sister Zhen)

  • Pray that the Lord strengthen Sister Zhen’s calling in the nursing profession, granting her empathy to be a warm and supportive presence for vulnerable patients. Pray that the Lord provide her with strength and peace amidst challenges, so she may continually see the meaning in her work and find joy in it.

Online “Doxxing”

“Doxxing” is an escalated form of what was once called “human flesh search” — the illegal obtaining and public release of a person’s private information, often inciting others to harass and abuse the victim. Recently, a social media influencer became the target of online doxxing. She was flooded with harassment messages, and some even posted threats in her livestream comments. The harassment made normal life impossible for both her and her family. Police later arrested suspects involved in the case. They admitted that they had purchased the influencer’s personal information online and reposted it. After trial, the court ordered the defendants to make a public apology through national media and to pay RMB 100,000 in compensation for public welfare damages.

  • May the authorities will strengthen investigations into online doxxing — dismantling the criminal networks that systematically traffic such data, so that the public’s safety may be better protected.

A Marriage Restored

“My relationship with my wife had always been poor. I worked away from home and honestly didn’t want to go back. Eventually, my wife developed depression. I quit my job and returned home. Together, we started attending church, and the brothers and sisters prayed for us continuously. Slowly, her heart opened up. Her complexion improved, and she became willing to interact with others. After more than a year, her depression was healed. One time, she prayed with tears and said it was the grace of God — though she had endured suffering that felt like death itself, God had not forsaken her.”

(Brother Zhao)

  • Pray that the Lord grant Brother Zhao and his wife wisdom and grace, helping them to support each other in their daily lives. Pray that they become a living testimony, giving all glory to God; and also, that the Lord protects the wife from any relapse of depression.

Mobile Roadblocks

On highways, vehicles driving at a “snail’s pace” have become a primary cause of prolonged travel times and severe traffic jams. Data from the Ministry of Public Security’s Road Traffic Safety Research Center shows that for every 10 km/h drop in speed, road capacity decreases by approximately 15%. During highway traffic jams, nearly half of the bottlenecks are chain reactions triggered by slow-moving vehicles occupying lanes. When the speed differential between vehicles reaches 32 km/h, the probability of an accident increases by roughly 16 times. As traffic management continues to improve, strictly penalizing illegal slow driving has become standard practice. In addition to national penalty rules, some regions have refined their enforcement measures.

(“Beijing Daily App”, March 5, 2026)

  • May citizens will raise their safety awareness, adopt good driving attitudes, and maintain designated speeds on highways. Pray that appropriate penalties will serve as effective deterrents, ultimately reducing the risk of traffic accidents.
