China News & Prayer (2025.04.17-23)

Gospel Inheritance

“My parents believed in the Lord in the 1980s. They were illiterate. They had a whole box of bibles hidden under their bed. I asked my mother why. She quickly covered my mouth and cautiously told me that those were from Hong Kong churches for preaching the gospel and that I should not tell others. My parents’ lives have influenced many people. They have worked silently for the Lord. Now, my own family has moved to Australia. My husband and I serve in an English church. There are Chinese sisters-in-Christ having fellowship in my home. My son and daughter-in-law are not very active in going to church. We have been praying for them.”

(Sister Wei)

  • Thank God for Sister Wei’s whole family. Pray that the Lord continues to guide her and her husband in their ministry so that they can influence their family members and those around them.

Traps In Telecom Services

Consumers have told a reporter that if they want to upgrade their telecom package, the customer service staff will do it “instantly”. But if they want to downgrade, there will be various tactics to persuade them to keep the package or even change it to an expensive one. The so-called “discounts” are often hidden secrets, such as short discount period, unobvious price information, less data and call time quotas, etc. In addition, some package contracts also include clauses of automatic renewal. Lawyers are of the opinion that telecom operators should clearly inform users of the discount time-limit, subsequent charging standards and package details, etc. while promoting and processing their packages, and they should avoid vague wordings.

(“Beijing Youth Daily”, March 13, 2025)

  • Pray that telecom companies will exercise self-discipline and they will not disregard their customers’ wishes in the pursuit of their profits. Also pray that the relevant departments can strengthen the supervision of these companies and education of citizens so that they will know how to protect their rights.

In-law Relationship

“My mother-in-law is 83 years old. We have a very good relationship. Although she has a hot temper, I have never contradicted her. I am filial to her just because of the Lord Jesus. I have had a very good influence on my family. My relationship with my daughter-in-law is so close; I treat her like my own daughter. I believe that it is the love of the Lord Jesus which is full of my family. We tolerate, consider and show understanding for one another, imposing a great influence on our neighbors. Living a life like Christ becomes a nice testimony. May the name of the Lord be glorified in my family.”

(Sister Zhou)

  • God’s love has resulted in a very good effect in Sister Zhou’s family. When her life is like the Lord’s, she can influence the next generation. May the Lord continue to use her life to establish a tolerant and considerate relationship with her in-laws.

Class Breaks

Starting from the new Spring semester, the recess time between lessons in schools in many places has been extended to 15 minutes as a response to the Ministry of Education’s appeal to ensure students’ rest between lessons. In the past, some schools restricted students’ free activities during recess due to reasons such as safety concerns or lingering of classes by teachers. The new policy has not only increased students’ free time, but has also helped alleviate health problems such as vision lowering and overweight by letting students get out of the classrooms. In addition, it has emphasized the use of a scientific system design to balance the relationship between study and rest so as to enhance children’s all-round development and healthy growth.

(“China News Service”, February 24, 2025)

  • Ask the Lord to let the new policy truly help students so that they can feel comfortable physically, mentally and spiritually outside of the classrooms and their academic pressure will not increase. Pray that both parents and schools can actively co-operate to help children balance the time for their study and rest.
