Conquer Pain with Love
“My father died early and my mother worked hard to bring me up. My mother led me to Jesus when I was a child. A strong-minded and controlling mother, she is getting more aggressive after I got married, and even disparages me in front of outsiders. She likes to make her presence felt by suppressing others. Her difficult life has changed her into a pathological control freak. I had been thinking about taking my own life. Thank God for His protection. I come to know that no one is perfect and it is the unfailing love of Jesus that warms my heart. The love of God has given me the courage to live. I hope those who are in the same situation as me will look up to Jesus.”

Prevailing Shallow Reading
Modern technology allows rapid access to and exchange of information. AI has unlocked unprecedented growth. The prevalence of shallow reading may make it more difficult for children to stay calm and finish reading a long article or a book. To some parents, AI is like an invisible teacher that can recommend books according to their children’s preferences, or become a reading aid to help children get large volumes of information quickly. However, AI also will erode children’s critical thinking skill and hinder their development. Some students who have no reading habits will seek answers directly from AI. The lack of deep reading will definitely cause troubling downstream effects on reading comprehension and independent thinking in children in the long run.

I could overcome the constraints that I found difficult in the past. I am now truly convinced by the Word of God. I used to take God’s Word lightly. I failed to see and feel the beauty of it. Now I finally understand that everything is possible when the Holy Spirit lives inside us.”

Emotional Consumption
Emotional consumption has become a stress reliever for younger generations who face types of work and life pressure in this rapidly evolving city. According to the 2024 Chinese Youth Consumption Trends Report, nearly 30% of young respondents would spend money to pursue emotional or psychological satisfaction. The ‘Emotional Consumption’ section in major shopping malls is particularly lively. Cute toys to relieve stress are placed in conspicuous places in shopping malls. Apart from toys, a concert, an immersive and interactive show, and virtual merchandises delivering emotional value such as wake-up calls for emotional support and chatting are welcome by more and more young people.
