Let God Take Control
“I am approaching 30. My father, a non-believer, has been forcing me to get married. However, I am determined to marry a Christian. Feeling anxious while waiting, I sometimes argue with my family. All I can do is to pray and ask God to give me strength. I am willing to wait even until 40 or 50, as long as it is something that God has prepared for me. A year or so ago, a friend introduced me to a sister who is a member of a university fellowship. We both solve problems in the same way – according to the Bible’s teaching. We have common values and talk about many different things. Having similar beliefs and personalities, we become lovers. I feel deeply touched that God will be gracious to those who wait for Him!”
(Brother Wang)
- Brother Wang has been faithful to God in choosing a marriage partner. He has realized that waiting for God’s plan does not put us to shame. Thank God for providing for brother in a way that exceeds his expectation. May God bless his marriage that will become his testimony.
Children in Distress
Guangdong Provincial Civil Affairs Bureau announced that eight departments in Guangdong have jointly issued ten measures to strengthen the mental health of children in difficulty, with clear focus on promoting mental health education, launching mental health monitoring, and facilitating referral channels for treatment. Interaction among the departments of education, civil affairs, health and wellness and the All-China Women’s Federation will be strengthened. Schools and child welfare agencies will be instructed to pay attention to students suffering from mental health illnesses and children with psychiatric disorders causing distress at school, and contact the parents or guardians when any case identified. Diagnosis and treatment of psychological trauma will be provided for young victims of domestic and school violence or sexual abuse and their families.
(“China News”, October 9, 2024)
- Pray for children suffering adversity. May God give them strength to recover physically and mentally. Thank God for measures to strengthen mental health services for children in difficult circumstances. Pray for the co-operation among relevant departments to help children receive psychological treatment and care.
Colors of Yunnan
Yunnan, covering 390,000 square kilometers at the south-western border of China, is inhabited by 25 ethnic minorities. At the end of the 19th century, there were already Christian missionary activities in China with early and fast development in the Miao and Lisu areas. The significant consequences brought by British missionaries Samuel Pollard and James Outram Fraser to ethnic minorities have been discussed enthusiastically. However, there are still many ethnic minority groups unreached, including Hani, Dai, Wa, Achang, Jino and Deang, etc. As they live in remote mountainous areas, coupled with the language differences among different ethnic groups, it is still a big challenge to reach them.
- Pray for the work of spreading the gospel on this beautiful land. As the “Yunnan Dialect” is spoken by all ethnic groups in Yunnan, gospel radio has produced and broadcast programs in this dialect to share the gospel in a more efficient way. Broadcast on social media platforms is also being planned. Pray that the Lord will use us to bless others.
Gospel Broadcasting
- Online Bible Study Course: Being authorized by a theological seminary in Hong Kong to use the materials, we launched an online bible study course, “God’s Word, God’s Way – a Spiritual Banquet”. The program “Book of Exodus” in phase two has begun in mid-October and will complete in early December. Pray that all participants will love the Bible, love to read the Bible, live out the truth, and become the Lord’s best soldiers.
- Liturgical Year Devotionals: Devotional and family worship programs according to the liturgical year will be launched in November. The programs are compiled based on the cycle of liturgical days and seasons and the lectionary. We hope that listeners will build a closer relationship with Jesus. May the Lord strengthen the program producer and the production team.
