From Death to Life
“I have prayed for many years for my wife and father-in-law to believe in the Lord, but they never did. I was almost ready to give up in despair. Then my father-in-law was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, plunging the whole family into deep sorrow. When I shared the gospel with him again, he was willing to accept the Lord Jesus, and so did my wife. Although it was motivated by a desire for healing, they took that first step regardless. When my father-in-law was so emaciated that he was just skin and bones, the elders and pastors from my church came to baptize him and my wife. I believe my father-in-law’s soul is now in God’s hands, from death to eternal life, from the power of Satan to Jesus. I have no regrets in my life.”
(Brother Yang)
- Praise the Lord that Brother Yang’s family has turned to the Lord Jesus. May the Lord comfort Brother Yang and his wife, help them to hold onto their hope in the Lord, and follow Him closely.
Drought in Shandong
Recently, videos showing severe drought and crop failure in the Yimeng Mountains of Shandong have garnered widespread attention, with many local residents sending messages seeking help. Regarding the drought, the Emergency Management Bureau of Mengyin County stated that it rained in March, but there has been no rainfall for a long time since then. People throughout Yimeng, whether they grow peaches or grains, are all reporting the hardships of fighting the drought, and they are all facing this dry spell. Water levels in reservoirs have dropped, and some rivers and streams have also dried up. The government is holding meetings to discuss the drought issue and looking into ways to assist the farmers, implementing a series of corresponding measures.
(“Sina News”, June 11, 2024)
- Pray for the Lord’s mercy on the farmers in the Yimeng, asking Him to send timely rain to nourish the parched land and save the crops. Pray that the Lord will guide the government and relevant departments to effectively take appropriate measures to help the farmers overcome this hardship and secure their livelihoods.
Wandering in a Foreign Land
A Buyi Christian leader shared: Many Buyi pastors in Guizhou are having to flee their hometowns under pressure, abandoning their homes for their faith. There are nearly three million Buyi people in Guizhou; as early as 1891, missionary Samuel Pollard of the China Inland Mission entered the Buyi area to spread the gospel and established a mission base in Xingyi City. God’s Word has been sown among this ethnic group for over a century, and it’s said there are Buyi believers in various places, but there hasn’t been a large-scale turning to the Lord among this ethnic minority. Co-workers estimate there are about 4,000 believers among the nearly three million Buyi, meaning only one in 650 Buyi is a Christian; the urgent need to reach this sizable ethnic group with the gospel remains.
- Pray for the Buyi believers and pastors who are having to wander as refugees from their hometowns because of their faith. May the Lord send His angels to guard them, help them stand firm in the truth, and provide for the needs of these displaced believers and families.
